Anonymous asked: Do you believe that Talent rises to the top? That if someone is a gifted writer -- and has the tenacity to keep chugging away at it, despite whatever rejection they encounter, which might be an even rarer attribute than Talent -- that they will ultimately find success in their chosen field?

I don’t think that there’s any guarantee of anything, ever. but I do think that talent rises, and talent combined with tenacity is a potent combination for success.

When you have career paths in comics as varied as Stan Lee’s, Jim Shooter’s, Neil Gaiman’s, Gail Simone’s, and Harvey Pekar’s, I have to think that Brevoort’s absolutely right here.
